An inspirational day!

 Step off your stilettos workshop

Well what a fabulous day we had at Witherden’s Hall, Wingham near Canterbury.  This organic bed and breakfast retreat provided the ideal setting for the Step off your Stilettos day long workshop.  The group of ladies who attended the workshop unanimously agreed that the combination of foot care, relaxation and life coaching were a perfect way to spend a Saturday getting away from it all and spending some quality time on themselves.

The group numbers were kept small to ensure that everyone received personal attention and felt comfortable during the day. The friendliness of the group also made members relax in each others company and build rapport which enabled some ladies to publicly commit to the goals they had set for themselves during coaching.

All agreed that they had been given time to relax, with some take away techniques when life gets a bit stressful.  In their more relaxed state the group members were much more able to concentrate on what they wanted to achieve from the coaching session – which they did with great enthusiasm.

All in all everyone who attended said they would recommend the day to others and rated the day very highly.  So due to popular demand Step off your Stilettos workshop will be returning in the New Year.

What my customers said

Heading into the unknown

This week I took a risk that surprised me and shocked my friends. I picked up some hitchhikers at a service station. Now, I’ve watched enough films to know that either the driver or the hitch hiker comes to a sticky end.  And if it was my daughter or my niece and nephew picking them up I’d have gone mad.

The hitch hikers were students on a charity challenge to see how far away from their university they could get in 36 hours and of course they weren't allowed any money.  I decided on the spur of the moment to take them with me for three reasons:
  • They were going out the service station door at the same time as me
  • The destination on their board was close to where I was going
  • If it had been my daughter or my niece and nephew on that challenge I’d have wanted them to be picked up by someone friendly and nonthreatening.

We got chatting and it occurred to me how useful the trip was for their working lives.  They needed to be willing to take a risk – who knows where they’d end up?
They were resourceful. They had no money so had to persuade people to give them lifts, food, drink and shelter.  They had an idea where they were heading which they had broken down into more achievable milestones. Persistence had paid off – when I met them they had been stuck for four hours which is quite a large proportion of the total time available.

Life can be like that too – often we don’t know where we’re going but start off by heading in the right general direction. We need to take calculated risks, be resourceful, resilient and persistent.

I don’t know where they got to, but I hope they were successful in their bid to cross the channel. Whatever happened, the charity they were raising money for would have got a boost.

The blackberries of life

I was picking blackberries in my garden this morning and I noticed that the biggest juciest ones were much more difficult to reach than the smaller ones.  I knew these would be tastier, but getting to them required me to reach through a few thorns and make a bit more effort.  I know it’s a bit of a leap,  but my mind was wandering and it got me to thinking about how goals are like blackberries.  The hardest goals to reach  are more challenging, take more effort and more time, but the rewards are greater and more satisfying. There is nothing wrong with setting and reaching smaller goals, we do it all the time. However, sometimes we need to aim higher and get out of our comfort zone to reap the greatest rewards

Step off your stilettos encourages you to set juicy goals for yourself and can help you achieve them.
